How to Meditate

How to Meditate
Meditation is a practice that’s been used for thousands of years to reduce stress-- and it just takes a few minutes to feel positive effects. Research has shown that meditation can improve your mood, help you sleep better at night, reduce stress, and much more!

Transcendental Meditation is a popular practice, but how does it work? The key to Transcendental Meditation is a mantra, which is a sound or phrase that is repeated silently while sitting with closed eyes for 15-20 minutes. The mantra helps the brain avoid thinking distracting thoughts, and is meant as a vehicle to go beyond the thought process to reach the depths of your mind, allowing us to let go of stresses.

If you’re new to meditation, here’s a simple way to start! Find a comfortable place to sit or lie down, set a timer for 2-10 minutes, and breathe naturally. As you breathe, concentrate on each breath, and observe how your body moves-- such as your chest, shoulders, rib cage, and stomach. If you feel your mind wandering, bring your focus back to your breathing. As you get more used to meditation, increase the length of each meditation session. You’ll quickly start to feel the positive, relaxing effects! Meditation has been a vital part of my day and has been helping me be more self-aware, stress-free and happy!

Post meditation: We love spraying our Happy Body Mist for extra relaxation to enhance the overall experience-- and maybe grab a Matcha after :)
